Over time the lips volume depletes leaving a thinner , almost flat-like appearance.
Wrinkles and fine lines compromise the lips smooth look and the border and the cupid’s bow becomes less defined.
Around the mouth the area between the upper nose and the lip can become flattened and the corners of the mouth may turn downwards, creating a tired, aged appearance.
Lip fillers help fight the signs of ageing by addressing the lips texture, filling the lines and wrinkles caused by smoking and pursing your lips over time and by adding volume for a fresher, more youthful look.
What are Dermal Lip Fillers?
An exciting non- surgical treatment where dermal fillers (comprised of materials naturally occurring in your skin) is injected into the Lips. Whether you would like to add more volume to your lips, have a more distinctive lip shape or a refreshed lip line then this treatment can help you create a look that is noticeably distinct yet still natural.
Our fillers are long-lasting gels that, once injected into the skin with an ultra-fine needle, lifts and adds volume to the areas being treated. Similar to one of the body’s own natural substances (hyaluronic acid), it is a completely safe treatment.
What is the Dermal Lip Fill process?
One of the benefits of using our fillers is you don’t need to wait three weeks for a skin test like you might with other fillers, so you can be treated on your very first visit. The area to be treated will be numbed using a topical anaesthetic cream. Since our fillers are injected with a very fine needle, you’ll only feel a brief sting, if any. The transparent Dermal Filler gel is injected with a syringe into the mid- to deep dermis of your lips.
An initial consultation plus treatment normally takes 50-60 minutes. Subsequent treatments last 20-30 minutes on average.
Is it painful to have Dermal Lip Fillers?
Because Juvederm Ultra gels contain anaesthetic agents they keep discomfort to a minimum.
A topical (applied to skin) anaesthetic cream will also be used to further improve comfort during the treatment
Can anyone get Dermal Lip Fillers?
We do not advise dermal fillers for pregnant / nursing mothers or anyone under the age of 18 years old.
It is important when discussing your medical history to tell your clinician everything, including all medicines that you are taking, any present and past allergies and their seriousness, and all current or past medical conditions you have had. Your clinician will discuss potential side effects from injection of Dermal fillers and how serious they may be.
How long do Dermal Lip Fillers last?
The results are variable depending on your skin. Effects can last for 6-12 months
Are there side effects to lip augmentation?
There are very few reported side effects with these products, bruising being the most common as with any injections. This is usually minimal and can be covered effectively with make up.
You must mention to your practitioner if you are taking any blood thinning medications ie. aspirin or warfarin as one would be at higher risk of bruising. However, this does not mean that we cannot proceed, it just mean we will take extra care to minimise bruising.
